From the hotel you can stroll up the hill to Laon’s medieval city and also take advantage of the sports facilities at the Dome swimming pool and ice rink, and the bowling alley and billiard hall scarcely a hundred yards from the hotel. Remember to visit the museum of art and archaeology and take the guided tour of the town’s network of underground passages. A trip to the Dragon’s Cave (Caverne du Dragon), a remembrance site on the infamous World War I Chemin des Dames. Some 30 miles away you can go walking in the countryside of Thiérache, famous for its Maroilles cheese and fortified churches, without forgetting to take in the fascinating Godin Familistère in Guise.
