Rue des creuttes
Also called Fort Morlot, and located south of the plateau, it was built in 1878 by Séré de Rivières to establish military communications with the forts in the Laon region. An optical telegraph functioning with an oil lamp and a set of mirrors to pick up and direct sunbeams was used to transmit messages to 6 forts, messages that were invisible to enemies stationed below. From the top of the hill, there is a beautiful panoramic view of lower Laon and the Chemin des Dames.
