Place de l'église
Special evidence of the vitality of the ancient medieval town of Bruyères, this church is a large building of composite construction, erected for the most part in the 12th century.
In the 14th and 15th centuries, two lateral chapels were attached to the roman transept, one on the north side and the other on the south). The two chapels are raised and vaulted with the support of a daring, single palm tree column.
Its roman chevet, one of the most remarkable in France, boasts an exceptional sculpted decor: griffins, chimaera, lions, centaurs, masks and other fantastic creatures.
Inside you will find a painting by Jean Jouvenet, “Triumph of the Virgin” dating back to the 17th century.
