This impressive abbey was built at the beginning of the 12th century Saint Norbert installed 12 regular canons from Prémontré. Basing its wealth especially on the exploitation of vineyards on the upper town, this abbey had a great influence in the medieval time. Nowadays there still remain the former abbatial lodging house (which is closed to the public), the gardener’s pavilion known as the “vide-bouteilles”, and the cloister giving access to the Laon library. Inside the abbatial church, you can still admire magnificent 18th-century panels, two recumbent statues and a 14th-century crib recently discovered nearby the choir.
