1 rue St Martin
Very early on, the abbeys felt the need to build within inner Laon (which was a true natural fortress) places they could use as a residence to accommodate guests, as well as a place of protection.
Hence the creation of refuges, including Petit St Vincent, one of the most beautiful examples that can still be seen.
It was erected in the first third of the 16th century, and is distinguished by its built-in return staircase, typical of the early Renaissance, which can be admired today from the inner courtyard.
