With a calvary, a mill on the Serre and the imposing ‘Tour de Crécy’ belfry to see on the way, this interesting trail takes walkers through and alongside the woods, dirt tracks, tarmaced roads, rivers and railways of the Laon countryside. Destroyed during ther First World War, the village of Assis was reconstructed with the Eglise de Saint-Martin at its heart, a church that was first built by the Romans, rebuilt during the Gothic period and once more in the 16th century.
