The Alms Hospital, the oldest of its kind currently conserved in Northern France, it was built in the mid 13th century. On the ground floor, also known as the "room of the ill' houses the reception area of the Tourist Office, with direct access to: - every item of information necessary to the discovery of Laon and its surroundings; - a shop; - the copy of the relief map of Laon dating back to the 19th century; - the starting-point for guided tours. The gothic Bernard de Clairvaux room, also called the 'passer-by room', is located in the basement and is now open to the public for tours and may also be rented (festivities, exhibitions, etc.).
