This stone statue of Napoleon 1st, sculpted by Georges Thurotte in 1974, commemorates the French victory in Craonne against the Russian and Prussian armies of General Blücher on 7 March 1814. This statue is on the site of the Vauclair mill which he used as an observation post during that battle.
