Hauteurs du village
The very peculiar aspect of the “dry” grass in Chermizy is inherited from former pastures where goats and sheep once prospered, as well as from the open-air exploitation since the medieval times of the subsoil to extract limestone. That is what gives this ‘savart’ such a hilly terrain.
Since 1993, this site has been managed by the Conservatory of Picardy Nature Sites, due to its rich flora (approximately 7 species of orchids) and fauna (nearly 10 rare and protected species have been reported). Also, located not fare from here, the calcicolous grass of Mont Bosu in Chevregny, which you should not miss.
