Out of the 14 fortified doors defending the access to the upper city, Laon now only has 3 on the southern side of its ramparts (the Ardon, Chenizelles and Soissons doors). It is still possible today to go around the fortification ring, which is approximately 6 km long and illuminated at night.

The 3 remaining fortified doors can all be accessed on foot, and are located on the south side of Laon’s ramparts. You can pick up a free map from the Tourist Office which includes the location of these doors.
