The region of Berry-au-Bac still bears the dramatic marks of its past, as shown by the white gravestones in the military cemetery, visible on the return, an aviation camp from WW2 and a monument to tanks at the entrance to the Chemin des Dames. After the lock and banks along the canal, the trail passes by the chapel and fountain dedicated to Saint-Rigobert.
