In art, as in life, our emotions are a perpetual interplay of light and shadow, which painters, draughtsmen and engravers have always sought to convey in their work, beyond lines and contours, shapes and colors. Whether natural or artificial, sometimes divine, light gives life; shadow emphasizes, conceals or worries. The two are inseparable, revealing the contrasting world around us: the profile of a face, the torments of a stormy sky, the relief of an architecture, the chiaroscuro of a scene?
The collections of the Musée du Pays de Laon shed a whole new light on the subject, with some never-before-seen works and objects that play with light!

See you in the halls of the Musée d?Art et d?Archéologie de Laon! (open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, 1pm to 5pm)
