This cemetery, considered by some to be one of the most beautiful in the département, was laid out by the Germans in the wake of the Nivelle offensive in April 1917. It houses 1,704 graves, and is laid out in the form of Italian-style tiers just above the local church. In 1979, the wooden crosses were replaced by stone ones, and the cemetery was listed as a Monument Historique twenty years later… In September 2023, the cemetery will be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site…
