Eglise Saint-Pierre & Saint-Paul de Mons-en-Laonnois

Back to the list

Its construction started in the XIIIth century, and this church presents several particularities : its nave has only two bays, and its choir communicates with two side chapels planted obliquely at 45° (a disposition found in the churches of Saint Michel en Thiérache, Braine or Chaudardes).
The church was damaged during the Hundred Years’ War, and was fortified during the 16th century.

Inside you can see a large sculpted Christ (16th century), and outside a large obituary inscription (15th century), on the left of the western porch.
