A little-known monument, it marks the precise location of the crash of a French aeroplane in Laon during the First World War, an episode that left its mark on the minds of both locals and German occupiers.Today, it is the burial place of Brigadier Frédéric Quellenec, whose plane was shot down by a German aircraft on Friday 31/03/1916, even though he and his co-pilot Lieutenant Moinier were originally buried (with honors) by the Germans in a military cemetery in the upper town, on the Saint-Vincent plateau…
